Head aches and stomach issues

Hi, i smoked weed for 34 years, not heavy but one joint a night as sleep aid, with alcohol. I gave up at the start of my holiday 13 days ago and didn’t realise the impact of withdrawal. During the holiday i had most of the withdraw symptoms. But after a week i felt more mentally balanced and happier. However when i arrived back home i started to get real bad ear ache and head aches as well as bad stomach and digestive issues, im now on day 13, would this be still part of withdrawal? Thx

I have been a weed smoker for the past 14 years but I never smoked it with alcohol. During the times when I had quit for a few weeks or months, the only issue I faced for the first few days was constipation.

Yes. The stomach issues especially. Your GI tract is loaded with CB1 receptors that cannabis interacts with. Buckle in for a ride with that, unfortunately. I’m about 4 months in after 15 years of daily smoking and my stomach still goes haywire pretty bad here and there. People compare it to IBS-type symptoms like bloating, irregular bowel movements, occasional nausea, pain along the stomach and flanks (left AND right, almost like in the colon). It’s not very consistent, so you go through good days and bad days, and for while it can feel like it’s just getting worse. It can pop up even after you think you’ve cleared the worst of it, but it’s all part of the process. I’m told month 6-9 is where most people round the corner, so I’m hoping that’s the case for me as well. It’s not necessarily debilitating. I’ve had maybe 4-5 days spread out across the 4 months since I’ve quit where I got really nauseous for an hour or two then things cleared up. Otherwise it’s just annoying, especially because it lasts for so long and it really can feel like something is substantially wrong with you, but if it coincides with you quitting weed it’s likely related. Get yourself checked out if you think something is seriously wrong, but if you get a clean bill of health then it’s the weed, and you’ll just have to tough it out for several months until it clears up. Good luck!
