Quit Weed, an online forum from, is designed to promote accountability and encourage members on their weed quitting journey, and it is a kind and inclusive space.

Why are you here?

Making the decision to stop using weed is the first major step on the path to getting clean. If you’re like many, you’ve probably contemplated quitting in the past. Being here means you’re a little closer than before, and this is progress!

Quitting won’t be easy — it will take commitment, strength, and resolve.

The first step is picking a date to start. Maybe it’s today, maybe it’s a few weeks from now. Once you pick, though, stick to it. As that day approaches, it probably won’t feel like the right time. It never will. Trust your original instincts and start.

When are you planning to quit?

Define Your Goals

The next step is to define your goals. This may seem trivial to some, but it can serve as a powerful motivator later on during the cessation process.

Why do you want to quit? What’s not working that you want to change? What’s missing in your life that you want to achieve?

Write these down or keep them in the back of your mind. You may want to call on them later.

Choose Uour Support System

One of the hardest things to do in life is to ask for help / advice / encouragement when you need it. This can be especially scary when you’re feeling vulnerable, perhaps like now. It goes without saying that you would benefit immensely from one person or a group of people that can help you through this difficult time.

Maybe you don’t feel comfortable telling anyone about the fact that you smoked? Know that support can come in many forms, from keeping you busy when you need a distraction to taking the time to listen and talk you down when the gloom sets in. Different people can serve different roles during this process, especially as your needs change over time.

Use this time as an opportunity to take stock in the relationships you do have and to work towards creating new or strengthening existing authentic bonds.

Support groups, either online or in-person, can also be a fantastic resource. Just know that you should never feel like a burden. Be proud of the progress you’ve made and continue to make.
